Historic Bloomfield.
The Parlor of this 160 year-old home needed a refresh for a young, fun-loving family. The clients asked for an adult space ready to host book club nights, cocktail hours, or a cozy night in. We imagined a space that could straddle the line between proper sitting room and cool speakeasy.
We affectionately call the space "Snakes on a Ceiling--GSD Edition." Treating the room's fifth wall with a cheeky but symmetrical print created a wildly fun starting point, without overwhelming the room. Combining a mostly traditional approach with an exuberant palette of color and pattern inspires conversation and revelry, both at the bar and the seating near the fireplace.
The slipper chairs, most recently clad in ivory jacquard for 20 years, were passed down to our client from her grandmother. We gave them the royal treatment and added a "flapper's" fringe, echoing the speakeasy vibe our clients love.
